To make life a little easier on us all and to avoid embarrassment, we’ve put together some guidance (as we currently understand it).

Warning: It is quite likely this will change as officialdom hasn’t had the best track record clarifying things and cascading them down in a timely manner to implement.

Currently, we are in Tier 2, with an expectation that this is to be reviewed fortnightly by the government. This means we remain open and for the foreseeable future! However, it continues to be table service only.

As before, we are happy to book a table, for a maximum of 6 people (babies and children are included in the total). The booking must be for people from the same household (but may include a single person included in your support bubble). Although the new requirement, for Tier 2, is that you must be dining for a substantial meal.

A substantial meal is defined as an item per person, from our ‘mains menu’ (please do speak to staff with regard to those with a reduced appetite, babies & children). We will, however, use a common-sense approach within the law.

Additional to households, we are happy to accommodate business meetings (up to a maximum of 6) when eating and pre-booked funeral wakes from mixed households (up to a maximum of 15).

You are of course welcome to drink tea, coffee and non-alcoholic beverages without eating (please remember the rule of 6).

In outside areas, we can say yes to all of the above plus mixed households of up to 6. This does not include our new Backyard as unfortunately, it is classed as an enclosed space. The front garden continues to be open – bring your duffel coats, gillets and scarves!!

Your table has been allocated for a maximum of 2 hours. If you arrive late this time cannot, unfortunately, be extended. Should you be unable to make your booking, we politely request that you do let us know, as this has a detrimental effect on tables going empty in an already struggling sector.

Unless you are exempt, It is a legal requirement that a face covering must be worn before entering and at all times unless seated (this includes all aged 11 years or over). Please note this does include when you enter or leave the premises and whilst on any land owned or operated by the pub.

We are seeking clarification from the licensing authorities but believe we are able to provide takeaway alcohol provided this is not consumed on pub premises…(The village has a lovely green, which should you use it, we ask that you please respect it and ensure litter is taken home with you/disposed of appropriately). 🙂

Current guidance is that you should not visit us if you are resident from a Tier 3 area.

All guests must comply with Track and Trace requirements as before by providing contact details (mandatory) or alternatively scan the NHS QR code on your smartphone (optional)

Whilst with us, you must remain seated and please do not move any chairs or tables which have been carefully placed for your safety and to promote social distancing.

As much as we have all missed our friends and the normal way of life, please refrain from interacting or visiting other tables. Current legislation also prohibits us from booking multiple tables for groups larger than 6.

Please do not book tables under different names in order to flout the the rule of 6. this carries a large penalty and we will hunt you down 🙂 😜

Please remember we don’t make the rules and we kindly ask that you be patient with our staff who are trying their very best. We apologise if there is a wait to order or for service, but this is as new to us as it is to you. We are sure our team will have it smashed in a couple of days.

Last orders will be at 10 pm, please relax and finish your drinks after this time. However, you must have vacated the pub in time for the mandated 11 pm closure, you will not under any circumstances be allowed to take unfinished drinks offsite as we used to allow in plastics. Failure to abide by the law could end up with you, and us being fined or facing court action. We pride ourselves on our Covid secure environment and you will be asked to leave under such circumstances.

We look forward to having you back albeit under different circumstances again! Thank you for your continued support and custom.
